A tax collector passing through a small village falls in love with a beautiful local, only to discover that she's both dead and cursed. If any more proof was needed that Hong Kong is a special place, consider that what in any other culture would be the perfect setup for a horror film here became the opening to the Cantonese equivalent of Ghost -- one of the most successful and moving romances to ever come out of the Hong Kong film industry.

Our Cantonese song for today is the title song from the feature film A Chinese Ghost Story, sung by the late Leslie Cheung. We won't give away the ending, but if you haven't seen it you should rent it at once. This is the film that established Leslie Cheung as an international Asian star and sparked a trend of ghost films in the Hong Kong film industry that has yet to abate. And as the title song to the film, this is of course sung by Leslie Cheung himself.

Love the video. I'm going to see this movie again this weekend, for the 101st time.

Joey Wong, 王祖賢, the actress in the movie, is one of the most beautiful Hong Kong actresses of all time. She and 張國榮 made a legend.
